The Opportunity
As Agriarche continues to expand, we are seeking to strengthen our leadership by appointing a dynamic, experienced, and well-connected Independent Non-Executive Director to join our board of directors.

This pivotal board role offers a unique opportunity to bring deep expertise in export market development, agricultural value chains, and financial structuring to a high-impact agritech business.

The ideal candidate will possess strong institutional and commercial relationships within Nigeria’s agri-export ecosystem, alongside a proven track record of securing scalable off-take agreements aligned with Agriarche’s growing farmer network.

You will join a purpose-driven and innovation-focused Board, helping to guide Agriarche’s strategic direction while unlocking sustainable growth through expanded market access and strengthened capital structures.

Key Focus Areas
The Director will bring expertise in:
● Agri-financing and capital structuring
● Export market development and international trade
● Structured off-take and commodity risk management
Policy engagement and government relations

Beyond governance oversight, the Director will contribute independent judgment, strategic clarity, and institutional connectivity to support Agriarche’s long-term growth and resilience.

Board Commitment

Time requirement: ~2 hours/month, with additional input during strategic planning cycles or fundraising.
Board meetings: at least 3 annually (virtual)
Compensation: Modest stipend (to be discussed based on experience and involvement level)

Essential Areas of Expertise

Agriculture Value Chain Export Market Linkages & Off-Take Structuring

● Deep understanding of Nigeria’s agricultural export landscape (commodities, processed goods, and trade routes).
● Demonstrated ability to structure and secure off-take arrangements with processors, aggregators, institutional buyers, and exporters.
● Knowledge of trade financing, quality assurance, certification, and logistics in agricultural exports.
Strong understanding of African agricultural markets to inform expansion and trade efforts.

Strong relationships with buyers and off-takers across regional and global markets, including in Europe, the Middle East, and North America.

● Established relationships with FMCGs, commodity traders, processors, and international buyers for agricultural products, relationships with FMCGs, commodity traders, processors, and international buyers.

● Relationship with DFIs, commercial banks, and donor-funded programs supporting agri-value chains in Nigeria and across Africa

Tech-Enabled Agriculture:
● Familiarity with agritech tools, e.g., digital traceability, warehouse receipt systems, farmer onboarding platforms, technology platforms that optimize smallholder-to-exporter transactions
● Ability to identify and advocate for scalable solutions, guide the integration of advanced technologies, and support the company’s mission to enhance operational efficiency and expand its technological capabilities.

Regulatory & Trade Knowledge:
● Familiarity with NAQS, NEPC, SON, and international food safety standards such as Global GAP, HACCP, and EU phytosanitary protocols.

Policy & Government Engagement
● Experience engaging with relevant government institutions and regulatory bodies within the agricultural, trade, and financial sectors.
● Strong understanding of Nigeria’s agricultural policy landscape, export regulations, and compliance requirements affecting commodity trading and financing.
● Established relationships with key public sector stakeholders and decision-makers across ministries, agencies, export promotion bodies, and industry associations, with the ability to help unlock strategic opportunities aligned with Agriarche’s growth objectives.
● Experience supporting access to government-backed programs, incentives, guarantees, or partnerships that strengthen farmer access to markets and finance.
● Familiarity with export certification processes, quality standards, and cross-border trade requirements.
● Ability to provide informed guidance on regulatory developments and support constructive, long-term engagement with policymakers.

Agri-Financing

● Substantial expertise in financial management and strategy, with an emphasis on fundraising and securing capital, including experience with diverse financing instruments, from equity funding to climate-related grants and partnerships.
● Proven experience in structuring agriculture-focused financing solutions, including working capital for farmers and cooperatives.
● Familiarity with credit guarantees, blended finance, and insurance mechanisms that reduce risk for both farmers and buyers.

Climate and Sustainability
● Demonstrated ability to identify and leverage opportunities within climate finance frameworks and engage effectively with global organizations such as the United Nations, the IPCC, and relevant NGOs
● Working knowledge of climate-smart agriculture and sustainability frameworks relevant to export compliance and global standards.
● Ability to align Agriarche’s practices with climate finance opportunities and ESG requirements from global partners.

Payment Infrastructure
● Familiarity with cross-border payments, mobile money, and systems that facilitate inclusive financial participation.
