We are a fast-growing agritech company using technology and data to unlock access to markets, inputs, and finance for Africa’s agricultural ecosystem. Through our platform Kasuwa, we connect farmers, aggregators, and food processors with buyers locally and globally.
We trade in key agricultural commodities like paddy rice, maize, soybeans, honey beans, and hibiscus, supplying both local processors and international markets. We also sell processed rice to local restaurants and retailers.
Role Summary
We’re looking for a commercially savvy, strategic, and execution-focused Sales Lead to grow our commodity sales (local & export) and scale adoption of our Kasuwa app. You will manage a distributed team of field agents, collaborate closely with the marketing team to drive visibility, and work with operations to ensure smooth fulfilment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Sales Strategy & Execution
- Develop and execute a robust sales plan for local and international commodity markets
- Drive B2B sales to processors, restaurants, retailers, and exporters
- Identify and build strategic buyer relationships
- Generate actionable insights from buyer behavior and market trends
2. Kasuwa Platform Growth
- Drive supplier and buyer acquisition on the app
- Work with marketing to run visibility campaigns, field activations, and local outreach
- Set monthly onboarding and engagement targets for app users
- Collaborate with tech/product to align user feedback with platform improvement
Key Requirements
- 2–4 years of experience in agri-commodity sales, FMCG, or B2B sales
- Strong understanding of agricultural value chains and buyer behavior
- Ability to manage relationships with processors, cooperatives, and retailers
- Good communication, negotiation, and documentation skills
- Organized, proactive, and comfortable working with targets and deadlines
- Familiarity with digital tools (CRM, spreadsheets, basic reporting)
3. Team Management
- Lead and coordinate the work of field agents, assigning targets and ensuring consistent performance
- Build a small in-house sales team (as scale demands)
- Train and coach team members on product knowledge, negotiation, and buyer handling
4. Data & Reporting
- Maintain a clean sales pipeline using CRM or structured trackers
- Deliver weekly and monthly performance reports
- Track key metrics like sales conversion rates, repeat customers, and app GMV
5.Cross-Team Collaboration
- Partner with Operations to ensure supply readiness and smooth fulfilment
- Work with Marketing to co-create campaigns, digital promotions, and community events
- Feed data insights into Product and Finance teams to guide pricing and feature updates
Key Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in B2B sales, agribusiness, FMCG, or technology platforms
- Demonstrated ability to close deals, build new markets, and exceed targets
- Deep understanding of the agricultural value chain, especially commodity trade
- Experience managing field sales reps or agents
- Strong knowledge of sales tools: CRMs, sales funnel tracking, lead gen tools
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills
- Strategic thinker who can also roll up sleeves and execute
- Ability to travel within Nigeria as needed
Bonus If You Have
- Experience working with agri-tech or marketplace platforms
- Knowledge of export documentation and international trade processes
- Proficiency in Hausa or other local languages
- Existing relationships with processors, aggregators, or cooperatives
